BLOCK 1: DRIBBLING BEGINS SEPTEMBER 2021
The U15/U17 First Team programs emphasize technical development while exposing players to other key elements (such as speed and pressure) required to develop as a soccer player. Technical sessions are the foundation of the program focusing on dribbling, passing, control, shooting, attacking and defending. First Team players have the option of only attending one hour of training weekly (Technical OR Ball Mastery) or two hours of training weekly (Technical & Ball Mastery).
Technical
The technical training is the foundation of the Academy. The training is conducted in small groups with a coach to player ratio of 1:6. Within this program, the players are taught the fundamental components of the beautiful game. They learn the proper mechanics for dribbling, passing, control, shooting, attacking and defending. They then learn to take each component and apply these mechanics to multidirectional drills and competitive situations in an attempt to make these movements habits that they can then apply to games as they advance as players.
Advanced Technical – [Note: Available by invitation only and will run at the same time]
Our Advanced Technical program is designed to help players who the Academy recognizes require a higher level of technical challenges. While continuing to focus on high-level technical application, the program challenges players to execute these skills at game speed and under defensive pressure. The goal of the program is to develop players who can play at the highest level.
Ball Mastery
The Ball Mastery program is designed to encourage creativity and build self-confidence on the ball. Training targets specific skills in a pressure free environment allowing players to learn through trial and error. The program will encourage players to not fear mistakes but rather to work with the ball to a point where it feels comfortable and instinctive. The Ball Mastery session inspires players to get excited about trying new things!
